Not impressed. Boot time was around 3-4 minutes after it was all set up, machine was generally slower than a 10 year old HP Pavilion laptop and optical drive wouldn't recognize about half the DVDs I used (perfect condition Microsoft software)

If you want a faster boot time, get a SSD Hard Drive. For $500 what did you expect? I purchased this laptop last month and have had no problems. I run many programs simultaneously and have no issues, plays all my DVD,s just fine (although I mostly just stream), and is WAY better than my last HP 17" Pavilion I purchased in 2011. I would suggest a simple pair of Logitech external speakers, or better yet, a pair of wireless headphones for much better quality of sound.
