LG has introduced the Gram SuperSlim, its latest addition to the laptop market, boasting an ultra-thin design, an OLED display, and a 12-core processor. The Gram SuperSlim was previously known as the Gram UltraSlim, which was unveiled in January 2023 during CES. It is unclear why LG decided to change the name, but the essential features of the device remain the same.
The Gram SuperSlim has a 15.6-inch OLED display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, providing full DCI-P3 color space coverage. The device is powered by an Intel Core i7-1360P processor, which has four performance cores, eight efficiency cores, and an Iris Xe Graphics G7 iGPU with 96 Execution Units (EUs). This 28W processor is complemented with 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM and 512 GB or 2 TB of storage, providing fast performance and ample storage space.
The laptop is equipped with a 60 Wh battery, which can be recharged through any of its three USB Type-C ports. The device also features two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB 4 port, and a 3.5 mm jack. The USB 4 port, however, does not support DisplayPort Alt Mode. The laptop's LPDDR5-6000 dual-channel RAM and an M.2 2280 slot for upgradeable storage further enhance the device's performance and customization options.
The Gram SuperSlim is incredibly light, weighing in at only 998 g, making it one of the lightest 15.6-inch laptops on the market. The device measures approximately 355.6 x 227.3 x 12.4 mm, although it tapers to 10.9 mm at its thinnest point. In comparison, the regular Gram 15 weighs between 1.13 kg and 1.15 kg, depending on the configuration.
The Gram SuperSlim is available to order in the US in two variants. The first variant comes with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, starting at US$1,699. The second variant is equipped with 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB SSD, priced at US$1,999. Both variants can be ordered directly from LG's website. Customers who place an order before May 14 will receive a complimentary 16-inch portable monitor that typically sells for US$349.99.
In terms of connectivity, the Gram SuperSlim has three USB Type-C ports, two of which are Thunderbolt 4 ports that support Power Delivery, DisplayPort, and USB 4. The device also has a USB 4 port that does not support DisplayPort Alt Mode. The laptop features a 3.5 mm audio jack for audio output and input. The device's twin 2 W stereo speakers provide decent audio quality for daily use.
The Gram SuperSlim runs on Windows 11 Home, which is pre-installed on the device. Windows 11 Home is the latest version of Microsoft's operating system, and it includes new features like Snap Layouts, Snap Groups, and a redesigned Start menu. The operating system also includes new personalization options, touch, voice, and gesture-based input, and better integration with Microsoft's cloud services.
Overall, the LG Gram SuperSlim is an impressive device, combining a sleek and lightweight design with powerful performance and a vibrant OLED display. Its 12-core processor and ample storage options make it an ideal device for content creators, professionals, and anyone who requires high-performance computing on the go. With its impressive features and competitive pricing, the Gram SuperSlim is sure to be a popular choice for anyone in the market for a new laptop.
