Huawei Launches Flagship P60 Pro Smartphone Globally for €1,000+

Huawei P60 Pro

Huawei has launched its new flagship smartphone, the P60 Pro, globally. The device boasts some impressive hardware, but its starting price of €1,199 is considerably high, placing it firmly in the premium smartphone category.

Huawei first introduced the P60 Pro, alongside the P60 and P60 Art, in its home market of China just over a month ago. Now, the company has brought the device to the international market, offering consumers the chance to get their hands on this powerful and feature-packed smartphone.

The P60 Pro is based on the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 4G chipset, which features a single ARM Cortex-X2 CPU core clocked at 3.2 GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores running at 2.75 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 CPU cores running at 2 GHz. Huawei has complemented the powerful chipset with a 4,815 mAh battery that supports 88 W SuperCharge wired charging, 50 W wired charging, and 7.5 W reverse wireless charging.

According to Huawei, the P60 Pro can reach 50% charge in just 10 minutes when using the wired charging option, though the company has not disclosed charging times for the wireless option. The device features a 6.67-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,700 x 1,200 pixels and a 120 Hz variable refresh rate, providing users with an immersive and smooth visual experience.

The P60 Pro's camera setup is equally impressive, with a 48 MP primary camera and telephoto camera, as well as a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a front-facing camera. Huawei states that both 48 MP sensors are optically stabilised, but only the primary camera features a variable aperture. The telephoto camera also provides 3.5x optical zoom, making it easier to capture high-quality images at a distance.

The P60 Pro is available in two different configurations, with the base model offering 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, while the higher-end version features 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The base model is available in Black and Rococo Peal colourways, while the higher-end model is only available in Black.

Pre-orders for the P60 Pro are now open, but retailers will not begin offering units until May 22. Huawei has stated that the device retails for €1,199 with 256 GB of storage and €1,399 if you opt for the 512 GB version. However, the company is offering a €100 discount on the higher-end model and a complimentary Watch GT 3 smartwatch with orders placed before June 5.

Overall, the Huawei P60 Pro is an impressive smartphone that offers users top-of-the-line hardware and features. However, its high price point may deter some potential buyers, particularly when there are several other premium smartphones on the market at lower price points.

It remains to be seen whether the P60 Pro will be able to compete with other devices in its price range, such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra or the iPhone 12 Pro Max. However, for those willing to invest in a premium smartphone, the Huawei P60 Pro certainly offers a lot of value and features that are sure to impress.
