Tecno Camon 20 Premier: The Android phone with a "Masterful Aesthetic" and Dimensity 8050 SoC

Tecno Camon 20 Premier

Tecno, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has just announced its latest line of Camon-series smartphones, the Camon 20 series. The new series features a distinctive "Masterful Aesthetic" design and a MediaTek Dimensity 8050 SoC, which is making its debut in the Android market with the 5G-capable members of the new family. The flagship model, the Camon 20 Premier, boasts a unique 108MP ultra-wide/macro camera, a 50MP OIS-enabled "RGBW Pro" shooter, and a 2MP "Bokeh" lens, set inside its "Octa Ring" flash.

The Camon 20 series has a sleek design, executed in either "lychee pattern" vegan leather or light-bending glass, depending on the variant and colorway. The new design features a pointedly distinctive rear camera housing that houses a combination of 64MP and 2MP shooters in the new 20, 20 Pro, and 20 Pro 5G variants. The Camon 20 Premier stands out with its 50MP+108MP+2MP set-up, making it a standout in the flagship line.

The Camon 20 series boasts a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a punch-hole for a 32MP "AI Shining Selfie" camera. The display is smooth and fluid, with a 120Hz refresh rate in all the variants except the vanilla 20. The Camon 20 series also boasts a large 5,000mAh battery with 33W (or 45W in the Premier) fast charging support, making it perfect for heavy usage.

All variants of the Camon 20 series, except the Premier, come with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The Premier, however, comes with a whopping 512GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, the Camon 20 Premier is the only variant without a 3.5mm jack, which may be a disappointment for some users.

The MediaTek Dimensity 8050 SoC, which is making its debut in the Android market with the 5G-capable members of the new family, is a new solution for "Masterful Fluency". The 8050 has pretty much the same specs as the 1300, with support for 200MP main cameras, making it a top-of-the-line processor for the Camon 20 series.

Tecno has not yet outlined full pricing and availability for the Camon 20 series, but it seems the new line is destined for markets such as Africa and South-east Asia thus far. The OEM has, however, indicated that its release will start with the 20 Pro 5G in Nigeria, with an expected price of about 140,000 naira (~US$300).

The Camon 20 series is an exciting new addition to the Android market, especially for those in the African and South-east Asian markets. With its unique "Masterful Aesthetic" design, top-of-the-line MediaTek Dimensity 8050 SoC, and powerful camera set-up, it is sure to be a hit among consumers who value style, performance, and functionality in their smartphones. The Camon 20 series is definitely worth checking out for anyone looking for a new smartphone in the mid-range to high-end category.
