The GT5 Pro. The Realme GT5 Pro. Realme has scheduled a full, formal debut for its next flagship Android smartphone for after that of the OnePlus 12 in China. However, some of that event's key information has allegedly leaked out already, its price included. In the meantime, the OEM is teasing some of the GT5 Pro's main upgrades, most of which are found in its ultra-fast display.
On November 22, 2023, Realme declared that it is, in fact, going to wait until December 7 to unveil its latest flagship smartphone in full. Despite deciding to try and one-up sister brand OnePlus with the GT5 Pro, Realme is still taking the time to preview the device's specs and features in some detail.
For example, its switch to a Xiaomi 13 Ultra-inspired design has now been confirmed. Realme's take on the lens-cap camera hump will have a radiating texture that will, according to Realme executive Xu Qi Chase, double as a handy fidget toy for GT5 Pro owners.
Then again, those users might be too distracted by the screen to play with it too often. It will have the same size and resolution as the vanilla GT5, but will add new specs such as a max brightness of 4,500 nits - as opposed to 3,000 as previously rumored - although its "global" brightness rating will be closer to 1,600 nits in everyday use.
The GT5 Pro will also boast "20,000-level" dimming as well as the GT series' signature 144Hz refresh rate. Then again, it is now clear that the "8T LTPO" panel from BOE will be curved. The smartphone will have at least 12GB of RAM and 256GB of RAM, though.
That base model will also start at 3,499 yuan (~US$492), which, for a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphone, would be a bargain. Buyers might stand to gain 50W wireless charging to go with the rest of its (now confirmed) battery specs for that price soon.
