HP Envy Lineup Gets a Boost with Intel Raptor Lake CPUs and World's First IMAX Enhanced Laptopv

HP Envy

The release of the new Envy lineup from HP has generated a lot of buzz in the tech industry. One of the key features of the Envy lineup is the use of Intel's Raptor Lake mobile processors, which promise to deliver superior performance compared to the previous generation of CPUs.

The Envy lineup includes the 14-inch and 15.6-inch Envy x360 convertibles and the larger Envy 17 laptop. The entire lineup is being refreshed with Intel Raptor Lake mobile processors. Additionally, the 15.6-inch Envy x360 is the world's first laptop to feature an IMAX Enhanced certificate. This certification is reserved for devices that meet strict performance standards across viewing mode, color, brightness, contrast, and DTS sonic fidelity.

The IMAX Enhanced certification also includes an exclusive Expanded Aspect Ratio of 1:90:1. This ratio offers up to 26% more picture for select sequences, which means more of the action is visible on screen, just as the filmmakers intended. The Envy x360 achieves this certification with an OLED panel option with FHD resolution, 500 nit brightness, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.

In addition to the OLED panel option, the Envy x360 also features an FHD IPS option with 100% sRGB color gamut, and an FHD IPS with 45% NTSC. The 14-inch model only offers an FHD IPS panel with 45% NTSC color, while the 17-inch model features an FHD IPS option with 100% sRGB plus a 4K IPS option with 100% DCI-P3 color.

The Envy lineup also includes a range of processor options. The 14-inch and 15.6-inch models can be equipped with Intel's i5-1335U or i7-1355U processors, while the 17-inch model adds i5-13500H and i7-13700H options, leaving the i7-1355U as its base option. The maximum RAM capacity for the x360 models is 16 GB DDR4-3200, but HP does not specify this for the 17-inch model. All models support up to 1 TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD storage.

Port selection is limited on the 14-inch model, as it does not feature Thunderbolt connectors. The 15-inch and 17-inch models feature 2x Thunderbolt 4 connectors. All models include SD card readers and wireless connectivity via a Wi-Fi 6E + BT 5.3 card.

The sound system on the Envy lineup is provided by Bang & Olufsen, but only the 15-inch model comes with DTS:X Ultra. Battery capacity on the 14-inch model is 43 Wh, while the 15-inch and 17-inch models have 55 Wh batteries. The 14-inch model is the lightest, weighing in at 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg), while the 15-inch model weighs up to 4.13 lbs (1.8 kg) and the 17-inch model weighs up to 5.5 lbs (2.5 kg).

The starting price for the 14-inch Envy x360 is set at US$850, and it is already available for purchase from the official HP store. The 15.6-inch Envy x360 will launch this month with a starting price of US$950, while the Envy 17 will launch in May for at least US$1,150.

The Envy x360 models also come with a 360-degree hinge, allowing users to easily switch between laptop and tablet mode. The touchscreen display and stylus support on these models provide a seamless user experience, making it easier to navigate and interact with the laptop. The inclusion of Thunderbolt 4 connectors on the 15-inch and 17-inch models further expands the range of connectivity options available to users, allowing for faster data transfer speeds and the ability to connect to multiple displays.

The use of Bang & Olufsen speakers and DTS:X Ultra technology on the 15.6-inch Envy x360 model ensures high-quality audio output, making it an excellent choice for entertainment purposes. Additionally, the inclusion of a 5 MP webcam ensures that users can easily participate in video calls and conferences.

In terms of battery life, the Envy lineup offers decent performance, with the 14-inch model offering up to 10 hours of battery life, while the 15-inch and 17-inch models offer up to 12 hours of battery life. This should be sufficient for most users, but those who require longer battery life may want to consider other options.

One area where the Envy lineup could use some improvement is in the port selection. The lack of Thunderbolt connectors on the 14-inch model is disappointing, and the absence of an Ethernet port may also be an issue for some users. However, the inclusion of an SD card reader on all models is a nice touch, as it allows users to easily transfer files from cameras and other devices.

Overall, the Envy lineup from HP offers a range of options for users looking for a powerful and versatile laptop. The use of Intel's Raptor Lake mobile processors ensures that the Envy lineup will provide impressive performance levels, while the inclusion of an OLED panel option with FHD resolution, 500 nit brightness and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, along with the IMAX Enhanced certification, sets the 15.6-inch Envy x360 model apart from other laptops in its category. The 360-degree hinge and stylus support, along with the Thunderbolt 4 connectors on the 15-inch and 17-inch models, make the Envy lineup an excellent choice for those looking for a versatile and powerful laptop that can handle a variety of tasks.
