The Redmi Book 14 2024 is a smaller and cheaper alternative to its 16-inch counterpart. Xiaomi has refreshed the Redmi Book 14, a 14-inch laptop that mysteriously resembles an Apple MacBook Pro 14 in official shots. Arriving six months after its predecessor, the Redmi Book 14 2024 combines a 2.8K and 120 Hz display with a 56 Wh battery and a modern Intel processor, among other features.
Earlier this week, Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Book 16 2024, a 16-inch laptop based around Intel's Raptor Lake-H platform. It turns out that the company also released a 14-inch counterpart, albeit with little to no fanfare. Unsurprisingly, Xiaomi sells the smaller option as the Redmi Book 14 2024 despite unveiling it at the tail end of the previous year.
In saying that, the six-month lifespan of its Intel Alder Lake-H powered predecessor implies that the Redmi Book 14 2024 will not be around for long before a Raptor Lake Refresh or Meteor Lake successor arrives. At any rate, it appears that Xiaomi has simply dropped in a Raptor Lake-H processor without upgrading any other hardware. Specifically, chassis dimensions remain unchanged at 312 x 220 x 15.9 mm. Likewise, the Redmi Book 14 2024 weighs 1.37 kg and maintains its predecessor's 56 Wh battery. Thus, the new Redmi Book 14 2024 resembles recent MacBook Pro 14 machines, particularly in Xiaomi's marketing images.
Moreover, the Redmi Book 14 2024 has a 14-inch IPS display that outputs at 2,880 x 1,800 (2.8K) pixels in a 16:10 aspect ratio with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 300 nits peak brightness and 100% sRGB colour space coverage. As the image below shows, Xiaomi installs three USB Type-A ports, plus single 3.5 mm jack, HDMI and Thunderbolt 4 ports.
The Redmi Book 14 2024 starts at CNY 4,499 (~US$584) with 512 GB of storage and 16 GB of RAM, although a launch discount drops its starting price to CNY 4,199 (~US$545). While the laptop is only available with a single Core i5-13500H processor choice this around, Xiaomi also offers the Redmi Book 14 2024 with a 1 TB SSD and 16 GB of RAM for CNY 4,499 (~US$584), down from its CNY 4,799 (~US$623) MSRP.
