Xiaomi has unveiled its latest smartphones, the POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro, ahead of their global release in the UAE. The new handsets have been listed on the company's UAE website, revealing their full specifications and features. While the POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro share many similarities, such as their 6.67-inch AMOLED displays with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, as well as their quad-camera setup, the POCO F5 Pro has a few advantages over the POCO F5.
One of the key differences between the two smartphones is their processor. The POCO F5 is equipped with the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2, while the POCO F5 Pro features the nominally more powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. This chipset allows the POCO F5 Pro to record 8K/24 FPS videos, while the POCO F5 tops out at 4K/60 FPS.
Another difference between the two devices is their display resolution. The POCO F5 has a 1080p panel, while the POCO F5 Pro boasts a higher 1440p resolution. The POCO F5 Pro also has a more powerful battery with a capacity of 5,160 mAh, compared to the 5,000 mAh battery in the POCO F5.

The POCO F5 Pro also features an in-display fingerprint scanner, while the POCO F5 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Both devices are available with 12 GB of RAM, and the POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro can be configured with up to 256 GB and 512 GB of storage, respectively. Additionally, both devices feature a 64 MP primary camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2 MP macro lens, and a 16 MP front-facing camera. The primary camera is optically stabilized, has an f/1.79 aperture, and a 1/2-inch optical format.
The POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro will be available in the UAE starting May 10, 2023. The devices are expected to be released globally shortly after their UAE debut. The POCO F5 will be a cheaper alternative to the POCO F5 Pro, despite their similarities. Xiaomi has not yet announced the pricing for either device.
